Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

CCNA exam topics and policies folder

Cisco publishes the CCNA 200-301 exam topics as a numbered list of domains and objectives, and revises it from time to time, most recently with a v1.1 update. Courses and question banks lag behind those changes, so saving the official list and the current exam policies with the date you checked them gives every later decision a single source.

First tasks

  • Download the current CCNA 200-301 exam topics from the Cisco certification site
  • Copy every domain and numbered objective onto a one-page checklist
  • Note the fee, length, languages and retake policy with today's date
  • Save the recertification page and note how long the CCNA stays valid

Networking skills audit against the CCNA objectives

A help desk technician who already crimps cables and a computing student who has never seen a switch need very different plans, and both tend to overestimate what they know. Rating yourself honestly against every numbered objective, from duplex mismatches to JSON syntax, shows where the hours should go and which chapters you can skim. Repeat the rating halfway through so progress is measured, not guessed.

First tasks

  • Rate yourself zero to three on each CCNA objective in a skills matrix
  • Mark separately whether you could configure it and troubleshoot it
  • List the five weakest objectives at the top of the matrix
  • Put a midpoint re-rating date in your calendar

Baseline CCNA practice quiz before any study

Sitting a short mixed quiz on day one feels pointless, but it gives you a starting score and shows which question styles slow you down, from subnet maths to reading a routing table. Without a baseline you cannot tell later whether a month of study moved anything. Keep the result private and unflattering on purpose.

First tasks

  • Pick a reputable practice quiz of 40 to 60 mixed CCNA questions
  • Sit it in one go with a timer and no notes
  • Record the overall and per-domain score in the practice log
  • Write down the three question styles that cost the most time

Make it yours.

Install CCNA Certification, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
