Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Master register of every credential and its expiry

Most people with five or more certifications cannot say from memory which one expires next, and the one that lapses is usually the one nobody was watching. A single register listing every credential, its awarding body, ID number, issue date, expiry date and cycle requirements turns renewal from a surprise into a schedule.

First tasks

  • List every certification, licence and registration you have ever earned
  • Pull each credential ID and expiry date from its certificate or portal
  • Add the cycle length and credit requirement column for each entry
  • Sort the register by expiry date and mark the next twelve months

Renewal rules sheet for each awarding body

ISC2, ISACA, PMI, CompTIA, the cloud vendors and engineering boards each count credits differently, cap some categories and set their own grace periods. Reading each body's current maintenance policy once and summarising it in a few lines saves rereading handbooks every year and stops you earning credits that will not count.

First tasks

  • Download the current maintenance policy for your next expiring credential
  • Summarise credits, cycle, annual minimum and fee in five lines
  • Repeat the summary for every other credential in the register
  • Note each body's grace period and reinstatement route

Certification portal access recovery

Renewals stall when the account was opened with an old work email that no longer exists. Getting into every certification portal now, with a personal email and working two-factor login, avoids losing a week to support tickets when a deadline is close.

First tasks

  • Try logging in to each awarding body portal and note any that fail
  • Request password resets or support help for the failed logins
  • Switch each account to a personal email address
  • Store two-factor recovery codes in your password manager

Make it yours.

Install Certification Renewals and CPE Credits, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
