Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Innovation grant eligibility self-check

Before reading a single competition brief, find out which doors are open to you. Innovation agencies test the same handful of things: where the company is registered, whether it meets the small and medium enterprise definition once linked and partner companies are counted, how long it has traded, and whether the work is genuine research and development rather than routine product building.

First tasks

  • Write down headcount, turnover and balance sheet total from the last accounts
  • List any shareholder owning 25 percent or more and check whether they count as linked or partner enterprises
  • Describe the work to be funded in two sentences and compare it with a published R&D definition
  • Email the agency helpdesk any eligibility question the guidance does not answer

Innovation funding landscape map

Public innovation money comes from more places than most founders realise: the national innovation agency, research councils, regional development bodies, sector ministries, development banks and international programmes. Mapping who funds what, at which stage and for how much, turns grant hunting from luck into a short list you can watch.

First tasks

  • Search your national innovation agency's website for every open and recurring programme
  • Ask your regional business support body which innovation funds it runs
  • Record award size, intervention rate and deadline type for each programme
  • Mark the five programmes that best fit your project and stage

Grant opportunity pipeline tracker

Funding calls open and close on their own timetables, and briefs often go live only six to eight weeks before the deadline. One tracker holding every call you are watching, with status, deadline, likely amount and the go or no-go decision, means a good competition is never discovered the week it closes.

First tasks

  • Create a tracker with funder, programme, dates, amount, fit and status columns
  • Enter every programme from the funding landscape map
  • Set a status against each call
  • Name the person who owns and updates the tracker

Make it yours.

Install Innovation Grant Applications, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
