Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Picking your racket sport and home venue

Padel, squash and badminton reward different things: padel is the easiest to enjoy in the first hour and is nearly always doubles, squash gives the hardest workout in forty minutes, and badminton rewards speed and touch in a sports hall. Choosing one main sport and a venue you can reach in under twenty minutes decides whether you play every week or twice a year.

First tasks

  • List every padel, squash and badminton venue within twenty minutes of home
  • Book a pay-and-play or taster session for each sport you have not tried
  • Note the peak and off-peak court price at each venue
  • Write down your main sport and home venue

Court booking account and club membership set-up

Most venues release courts through an app or website a set number of days ahead, and the good evening slots go within minutes. Setting up the account, learning the release time and cancellation window, and deciding between pay-and-play and membership saves money and missed courts from the first month.

First tasks

  • Download the venue's booking app and complete your player profile
  • Find out what time new courts are released and how far ahead
  • Write down the cancellation cutoff and the late cancellation fee
  • Work out a typical month's court cost on pay-and-play versus membership

First racket that suits your sport and level

Beginners often buy the racket a professional uses, and a stiff, head-heavy frame punishes every off-centre hit. A round-headed padel bat, a squash racket that is not too head-heavy, or a badminton racket with a medium-flex shaft forgives mistakes while technique settles, and costs far less than the flagship models.

First tasks

  • Ask the venue or club whether they lend demo rackets
  • Play a session with at least two different rackets
  • Compare the shortlist on weight, balance, grip size and price
  • Buy the racket and note its model and purchase date

Make it yours.

Install Padel, Squash & Badminton, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
