Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Starting school information folder

Between the offer letter and the first day, schools send a stream of letters, emails and links: start dates, staggered timetables, uniform lists, forms and the teacher's name. Gathering it all into one folder, paper and digital, in the first week means nothing is missed in the late-summer rush and both parents can answer 'what time on Thursday?' without phoning the office.

First tasks

  • Search both parents' email for messages from the school and save them to one folder
  • Put every paper letter from the school into a single wallet file
  • Write a one-page summary of dates, times and the teacher's name
  • Save the school office number and email in both phones

Registration forms, consents and collection list

Schools need a data collection sheet, emergency contacts, photo and trip consents and the names of every adult allowed to collect your child before term starts. Returning them complete and early means the office is not chasing you in week one, and your child is never left behind from a walk to the park because a consent is missing.

First tasks

  • List every form the school has asked for with its return date
  • Ask two people whether they agree to be emergency contacts
  • Decide which adults may collect your child and agree a collection password
  • Return the forms and file a photo of each one

Medical needs and allergy plan with the school

A child with asthma, a severe allergy, epilepsy, diabetes or a daily medicine needs a written plan in school before the first day, not after the first incident. Meeting the school's lead for medical needs with the right forms and in-date medicines means every adult who supervises your child, including at lunch and on trips, knows what to watch for and what to do.

First tasks

  • Ask the office who leads on medical needs and request a meeting
  • Ask your child's clinician for an up-to-date action plan or letter
  • Hand in labelled medicines with the signed medicine consent form
  • Tell the wraparound and lunch staff about the plan in writing
  • Check the expiry dates of medicines held at school @recurring(quarterly)

Make it yours.

Install Starting Primary School, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
