Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Two-week energy and task audit

Most people can say they dislike parts of their job but not which parts, or how many hours those parts take. Logging every task for two working weeks with the time spent and a simple energy score turns a vague sense of drift into a list you can actually reshape, and every later project in this area builds on it.

First tasks

  • Set up a simple log with columns for date, task, minutes and energy score
  • Log tasks and energy scores at lunch and at the end of each working day
  • Group the logged blocks into categories and total the hours
  • Name the three most draining and three most energising categories

Strengths evidence map from your own work

Strengths tests give you labels; your own track record gives you proof. Pulling together the moments in the last two years when work went unusually well, and what you were doing in each, shows the strengths you can build a role around with examples a manager will believe.

First tasks

  • List eight work moments from the last two years that went unusually well
  • Tag each moment with the activity you were doing at the time
  • Name the three or four activities that keep reappearing
  • Ask two trusted colleagues what they think you are best at

Written job description versus the real job

Roles drift within a year or two of being written, and many people are measured against a description that no longer matches what they do. Setting the official description beside your audit shows the duties you have quietly picked up, the ones nobody asks for any more, and where you have room to move.

First tasks

  • Ask HR or your manager for the current written description of your role
  • Mark each listed duty as still done, partly done or dropped
  • List the duties you perform that the description leaves out
  • Write a five-line summary of how the role has drifted

Make it yours.

Install Job Crafting Your Current Role, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
