Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Communication Studies syllabus and paper format check

CXC revises its syllabuses, and the Communication Studies that an older sibling or a second-hand guide describes may not be the one you will sit. An hour with the current syllabus shows the three modules, what Paper 01, Paper 02 and the internal assessment each test, and how private candidates are assessed instead, so every later hour of practice rehearses the real exam.

First tasks

  • Check the current syllabus and timetable on the CXC website and note the paper format
  • List the three modules and their main topics on one page
  • Write what Paper 01, Paper 02 and the internal assessment each test
  • Note your Communication Studies exam date from the published timetable
  • Ask your teacher to confirm the summary is right

Diagnostic Communication Studies paper and starting profile

Before deciding where the year's effort goes, find out where marks are leaking. One recent past paper, written at home and marked against the mark scheme, shows whether the extract essay, the language question or the communication scenario costs you most, and whether the cause is missing terminology, thin examples or running out of time.

First tasks

  • Choose a recent past paper that matches the current format
  • Write Paper 01 and Paper 02 on two quiet afternoons in the same week
  • Mark the answers with the mark scheme or hand them to your teacher
  • Record your starting score and three weakest areas in your notes

Communication Studies timetable to the exam sitting

Squeezed between three or four other CAPE units and an internal assessment with its own school deadlines, Communication Studies gets pushed aside unless it has fixed slots. A timetable that counts back from the exam date, with the three modules, the portfolio checkpoints and the mock already placed, shows in one glance whether you are on track.

First tasks

  • Ask your teacher for the date of every internal assessment checkpoint
  • Write the exam date, portfolio deadlines and mock week on one calendar
  • Block out the weeks for each module and the final six weeks of revision
  • Choose two or three weekly study slots around your other CAPE units
  • Compare the timetable with what you have actually covered @recurring(monthly:3)

Make it yours.

Install CAPE Communication Studies, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
