Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current CSEC Agricultural Science syllabus and paper format check

Agricultural Science at CSEC is examined through a multiple-choice Paper 01, a written Paper 02 and a practical school-based assessment, and the single and double award versions differ in how much content and SBA work they carry. An hour with the current CXC syllabus and timetable means every later project in this area is aimed at the exam you will actually sit, not the one described in an older textbook.

First tasks

  • Check the current syllabus and timetable on the CXC website and note the paper format
  • List the syllabus sections and topics on one page, marking double award content
  • Write the syllabus edition year on the front of your Agricultural Science folder
  • Re-check the CXC website for syllabus amendments at the start of each school year @recurring(yearly)

Single award or double award decision

Some schools offer Agricultural Science as a single award and others as a double award, which covers more content, asks for more practical work and is counted differently on your certificate. Deciding in Form Three or early Form Four, with the facts from your school and the syllabus in front of you, avoids switching halfway through when SBA projects are already planted.

First tasks

  • Ask your teacher which award options the school enters candidates for
  • List the double award extras from the current syllabus
  • Check how each award counts for the next course you are aiming at
  • Agree the choice with a parent and write down the reasons

Diagnostic Agricultural Science paper to find your starting point

Students arrive at CSEC Agricultural Science with very different backgrounds: some have kept goats or helped in a family garden for years, others have never planted a seed. Sitting one past Paper 01 early, without notes, and sorting the wrong answers by section shows whether soil, crops, livestock or agribusiness needs the most work first.

First tasks

  • Get one past or specimen Paper 01 from your teacher or the CXC store
  • Sit the paper in one go without notes or a phone
  • Mark it and tally the wrong answers by syllabus section
  • Set up a skills matrix with a confidence score for each section

Make it yours.

Install CSEC Agricultural Science, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
