Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current CSEC EDPM syllabus and paper format check

EDPM is examined partly on paper and partly at the keyboard, and the details of each paper, the SBA portfolio and any speed requirement can change between syllabus revisions. Reading the current syllabus and timetable yourself, rather than relying on an older student's notes, tells you exactly what will be marked and in what order the content is set out.

First tasks

  • Download the current EDPM syllabus from the CXC website and note its date
  • Check the current timetable on the CXC website and note the paper format
  • List every syllabus section with the documents it expects you to produce
  • Ask your teacher for the school's SBA submission date

Baseline typing speed and accuracy test

Most students start EDPM believing they type faster than they do, and two-finger habits hide behind a decent speed until a timed practical exposes them. A five-minute test on unseen text at the start gives you a real words-per-minute figure and an error count, so every later improvement can be measured against it.

First tasks

  • Pick a free online typing test that reports errors as well as speed
  • Take a five-minute test on unseen text with your eyes on the screen
  • Record gross speed, errors and net speed with today's date
  • Ask your teacher what speed to aim for by the end of the year

Two-year EDPM study and practice plan

Schools usually spread CSEC EDPM over Forms Four and Five, with the SBA portfolio built during the second year and the practical exam in May or June. A month-by-month plan that places each document type, the SBA stages and the revision weeks stops the familiar problem of mail merge and newsletters still being untouched at Easter.

First tasks

  • Ask your teacher for the EDPM scheme of work for both years
  • Place each syllabus section in the month it will be taught
  • Mark the SBA stages and mock exam weeks on the plan
  • Compare where the class is against the plan @recurring(monthly:24)

Make it yours.

Install CSEC Electronic Document Preparation (EDPM), then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
