Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current CSEC Food, Nutrition and Health syllabus and paper format check

Food, Nutrition and Health is examined through a multiple-choice Paper 01, a written Paper 02 and a school-based assessment built around practical cookery, and the course replaced the older CSEC Food and Nutrition syllabus. An hour with the current CXC syllabus and timetable means everything you study, cook and write in this area is aimed at the exam you will actually sit.

First tasks

  • Check the current syllabus and timetable on the CXC website and note the paper format
  • List the syllabus sections and their topics on one page in order
  • Write the syllabus edition year on the front of your FNH folder
  • Re-check the CXC website for syllabus amendments at the start of the school year @recurring(yearly)

Diagnostic FNH paper to find your starting point

Most students arrive in Form Four having cooked at home but never been asked why a custard curdles or which nutrient prevents anaemia. A short diagnostic, half from a past Paper 01 and half from past Paper 02 questions, shows which sections are already solid and which need the most weeks in your plan.

First tasks

  • Ask your teacher for a past Paper 01 and two Paper 02 questions to use as a diagnostic
  • Sit the diagnostic in one quiet sitting without notes
  • Mark it and total the score for each syllabus section
  • Circle the three weakest sections and add them to your study plan

Two-year Food, Nutrition and Health study plan

Two years sounds long, but between term practicals, the SBA and other subjects' deadlines, theory revision gets squeezed into the final term unless it is planned. Mapping the syllabus sections across Form Four and Form Five, with the SBA practicals and the mock marked on it, turns the course into a sequence of weeks you can actually follow.

First tasks

  • Copy the syllabus topics into a term-by-term grid for Form Four and Form Five
  • Mark the SBA practical and submission dates your teacher gives you
  • Block the mock exam and the final eight weeks of revision
  • Review the plan and move any slipped topics forward @recurring(monthly:3)

Make it yours.

Install CSEC Food, Nutrition and Health, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
