Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current CSEC Mathematics syllabus and paper format check

Teachers, textbooks and older siblings all describe CSEC Mathematics slightly differently, and the syllabus has been revised in recent years, so a second-hand practice book may drill content that has moved or vanished.

First tasks

  • Check the current syllabus and timetable on the CXC website and note the paper format
  • List the syllabus sections in their published order on one summary page
  • Note which formulae the syllabus says are supplied in the exam
  • Share the summary page with your teacher and anyone who helps you study
  • Check the CXC website for changes to the mathematics syllabus each September @recurring(yearly)

Diagnostic past paper and starting profile

Before any revision starts, it pays to know whether marks leak from algebra, from careless arithmetic or from never reaching the last questions. Sitting one recent Paper 02 calmly at home, then marking it with the official mark scheme section by section, gives a starting score and a short list of weak sections that decides where the next months go.

First tasks

  • Download or borrow one recent Paper 02 and its mark scheme
  • Sit the paper at a clear table with your phone in another room
  • Mark the script with the mark scheme, counting method marks
  • Tag each lost mark with its syllabus section
  • Write the starting score and three weakest sections in the error log

Exam calculator, geometry set and study corner

CXC's regulations limit which calculators may go into the exam room, and a student who switches calculator in May loses minutes hunting for the fraction and standard form keys. Choosing one permitted scientific calculator now, a full geometry set with a compass that holds its radius, and a quiet table at home where both live means every practice question is done with the tools that go into the exam.

First tasks

  • Read the calculator rules in the school's CXC exam notice
  • Compare two or three permitted scientific calculator models
  • Practise fractions, standard form and trigonometry keys on the chosen calculator
  • Pack a complete geometry set in a clear pencil case
  • Clear a table at home with good light for mathematics practice

Make it yours.

Install CSEC Mathematics, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
