Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current CSEC Spanish syllabus and paper format check

CXC revises its language syllabuses, and the Spanish exam an older sibling or a second-hand revision book describes may not be the one you will sit. An hour with the current syllabus and timetable tells you which papers exist, what the multiple-choice paper, the written paper and the oral each test, and when your sitting falls, so every hour of practice after this rehearses the real exam.

First tasks

  • Check the current syllabus and timetable on the CXC website and note the Spanish paper format
  • Write each paper and the oral on one page with what each tests
  • Ask your teacher when the school usually runs the oral examination
  • Print the syllabus topic and grammar lists for the front of your folder

Diagnostic Spanish paper and speaking starting point

Before deciding where the year goes, find out where marks are leaking. One recent past paper written at home, marked against the mark scheme, plus five minutes of recorded speaking, shows whether listening, reading, written accuracy or speaking is costing most, and whether the cause is vocabulary, verbs or simply running out of time.

First tasks

  • Choose a recent past paper set that matches the current format
  • Write both papers on two quiet afternoons in the same week
  • Record five minutes of yourself answering questions about your life in Spanish
  • Record your starting score and three weakest areas in the error notebook

Spanish study timetable to the exam sitting

Languages are learned in small daily amounts, not in a final cram, and Spanish has to share the week with eight or nine other subjects. A timetable that counts back from the oral and the written papers, fixes short daily slots and longer weekend ones, and leaves the final four weeks for timed work stops grammar topics being left until March.

First tasks

  • Mark the oral and written exam dates on a calendar
  • Place each grammar and topic project in a week before the final six weeks
  • Fix short weekday slots for vocabulary, listening and speaking
  • Compare the timetable with what you actually covered @recurring(monthly:3)

Make it yours.

Install CSEC Spanish, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
