Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

SEA Mathematics framework and paper format check

Before any practice starts, the student and parent need to know exactly what the Mathematics paper covers this year and how it is set out. The Ministry of Education publishes the SEA assessment framework, sample items and the exam date, and details can change between years, so reading the current versions first stops weeks of work on the wrong format.

First tasks

  • Download the current SEA assessment framework from the Ministry of Education website
  • Note the Mathematics paper format, timing and permitted instruments from it
  • List every Mathematics topic under its strand on one page
  • Write the published SEA date on the family calendar

Diagnostic SEA maths paper and confidence map

A full past paper done honestly and early is the fastest way to see where a child really stands. Marking it strand by strand shows whether marks are leaking in fractions, measurement, geometry or graphs, so later practice goes where the marks are lost rather than where the child feels comfortable.

First tasks

  • Print one recent SEA past paper and its answer key
  • Sit the paper at a quiet table using the timing from the framework
  • Mark it and total the score for each strand
  • Ask your child to rate every topic on the checklist from 1 to 5
  • Circle the three topics that lost the most marks

Times tables and number facts baseline

Almost every SEA maths question leans on instant recall of times tables, number bonds and the division facts that go with them. A child who still counts up to find 7 times 8 loses time and accuracy across the whole paper, so measuring recall now and closing the gaps early pays off in every other topic.

First tasks

  • Give a 100-question mixed times tables grid and time it
  • List every fact that took more than three seconds
  • Practise the slow facts in a five-minute timed grid @recurring(weekly:mon)
  • Repeat the full grid after four weeks and compare the times

Make it yours.

Install SEA Mathematics, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
