Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

AA syllabus, exam format and examinable documents check

ACCA updates the AA syllabus and study guide each exam year and publishes a list of examinable documents, so a study text or forum post from an earlier year can be wrong about which standards and topics count. Reading the current pages on ACCA's website before buying anything tells you exactly what your session tests and how the exam is structured.

First tasks

  • Download the current AA syllabus and study guide from ACCA's website
  • Write down the exam structure exactly as ACCA describes it for your session
  • Save the examinable documents list and highlight the ISAs it names
  • Recheck ACCA's AA page for syllabus or examinable document changes @recurring(quarterly)

Booking your AA exam session and centre

Exam sessions run on a published timetable with entry windows, and the fee usually rises the closer you book to the deadline. Picking a session that leaves at least three clear months of study, and entering in the cheapest window, removes one of the commonest reasons students sit underprepared or pay more than they need to.

First tasks

  • Look up the next two AA session dates and entry deadlines in your ACCA account
  • Count the study weeks between today and each session
  • Choose a centre and time the trip there at that time of day
  • Enter the exam and save the confirmation email in your study folder

Where AA fits in your Applied Skills order

Most students find AA easier after Financial Reporting, because audit procedures assume you know how the balance being tested is measured and presented. Checking whether you hold an exemption, and deciding which exam AA is paired with or follows, prevents a session where two heavy papers collide.

First tasks

  • Check your ACCA account for any exemption already granted for AA
  • List the Applied Skills exams passed and still outstanding
  • Decide whether AA follows FR, stands alone or pairs with another exam
  • Write the chosen order and the reason in your study plan

Make it yours.

Install ACCA Audit and Assurance (AA), then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
