Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current FR syllabus and exam format check

Exam formats, the list of examinable standards and the rules of the computer-based exam change between sessions, and study texts and forums lag behind. Downloading the current FR syllabus and study guide, the examinable documents list and the specimen exam from the ACCA website, with the date you checked, gives every later project an official reference instead of a classmate's summary.

First tasks

  • Download the current FR syllabus and study guide from the ACCA website
  • Save the examinable documents list for the session you plan to sit
  • Write the exam structure and timing on one page in ACCA's own wording
  • Recheck ACCA's FR pages for syllabus or format changes @recurring(quarterly)

Financial Accounting gap check before starting FR

FR assumes you can already prepare a single company's statements, post year-end adjustments and handle simple group workings at Financial Accounting depth. A two-hour self-test on those basics, marked honestly, shows whether you can start on the IFRS standards straight away or need a week of repair first, which is far cheaper than finding the gap inside a consolidation question two months in.

First tasks

  • Pull five basic questions on adjustments, statements and simple groups from an old Financial Accounting text
  • Sit them without notes in one two-hour block
  • Mark the answers and list every item you got wrong
  • Book a repair week before FR study if the list is long

Choosing your FR exam session and entering on time

ACCA runs FR in fixed exam sessions rather than on demand, and entry closes in stages with higher fees the later you enter. Picking the session that gives you enough study weeks, then entering before the standard deadline, fixes the date the whole plan counts back from and avoids paying a late fee for no extra preparation.

First tasks

  • List the next three FR exam sessions and their entry deadlines
  • Estimate the study hours you can give each week until each session
  • Enter for the chosen session before the standard deadline
  • Save the entry confirmation and the test centre details
  • Renew your ACCA annual student subscription before it lapses @recurring(yearly)

Make it yours.

Install ACCA Financial Reporting (FR), then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
