Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

SBR syllabus, exam structure and examinable documents check

ACCA updates the SBR syllabus and study guide for each exam year and publishes an examinable documents list naming the standards and exposure drafts your session can test, so a study text or forum post from an earlier year can be wrong about what counts.

First tasks

  • Download the current SBR syllabus and study guide from ACCA's website
  • Write the exam structure down exactly as ACCA describes it for your session
  • Save the examinable documents list and highlight standards you did not meet in FR
  • Recheck ACCA's SBR pages for syllabus and examinable document changes @recurring(quarterly)

Choosing the session you will sit SBR

Strategic Professional exams run on a published session timetable with entry windows, and late entry usually costs more. Most candidates need several months of steady study for SBR on top of a job, so picking the session by counting real study weeks, not hopes, is the first decision that protects the attempt.

First tasks

  • Look up the next two SBR sessions and entry deadlines in your ACCA account
  • Count study weeks to each session after removing work peaks and holidays
  • Enter the exam in the cheapest entry window still open
  • Save the entry confirmation and centre address in your study folder

Sequencing SBR with SBL and your remaining exams

Many candidates sit SBR before or alongside Strategic Business Leader, and ACCA's guidance on the order of Strategic Professional exams affects how later papers build on SBR's reporting knowledge. Deciding the order now, with your employer's study leave and any ACCA rules on completing the level in view, stops SBR being squeezed into a session it does not fit.

First tasks

  • Read ACCA's guidance on the recommended order of Strategic Professional exams
  • List your remaining exams and the session you are aiming for with each
  • Decide whether to sit SBR alone or alongside another exam and note why
  • Check ACCA's current rules on time limits for the Strategic Professional level

Make it yours.

Install ACCA Strategic Business Reporting (SBR), then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
