Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Level II exam format and window check

Before any study hours are planned, you need the facts that shape them: the current exam windows, registration deadlines, fees, how the multiple-choice and constructed-response sections work, and which curriculum edition applies to your sitting. These details are revised between years, and a plan built on a forum post from two cycles ago can miss a deadline or cover the wrong readings.

First tasks

  • Open the association's Level II exam page and note the next two exam windows
  • Write down the registration deadlines and fees for each window
  • Note how the multiple-choice and constructed-response sections are structured
  • Confirm which curriculum edition and study guide apply to your chosen window

Level II registration and exam appointment

Registration closes well before the window opens, and appointments at popular test centres fill early. Registering as soon as the plan is set fixes the date every other project counts back from, and checking that your registered name matches your identity document avoids being turned away on the day.

First tasks

  • Pick the window that leaves the study weeks your plan needs
  • Register for Level II and file the confirmation email
  • Book the exam appointment as soon as booking opens
  • Check the registered name against your passport or ID letter by letter
  • Put the exam date and the rescheduling deadline in your calendar

Level I carry-over gap audit

Level II assumes you still remember Level I: return and risk measures, the statistics behind them, hedge fund strategy mechanics, private equity structures and real asset basics. Many candidates sit Level II a year or more after Level I and only find the gaps when an item set builds on them. A short diagnostic now shows which Level I topics need an hour and which need a week.

First tasks

  • List the Level I topics the Level II study guide says it builds on
  • Answer 40 Level I practice questions spread across those topics
  • Rate each topic green, amber or red from your scores
  • Revisit one red or amber Level I topic from the gap list @recurring(monthly:5)

Make it yours.

Install CAIA Level II, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
