Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Level II exam format and topic outline check

Before any study hours are spent, read CFA Institute's current Level II pages yourself, because the topic outline, the weight range for each topic, the item-set format and the exam windows can change from one year to the next. Notes passed down from a colleague who sat two years ago may cover readings that have since moved level or been dropped.

First tasks

  • Open the Level II exam page on the CFA Institute website and save the topic outline
  • Copy the published weight range for each topic onto one page
  • Note the item-set format, session structure and break rules in your own words
  • List any learning modules that differ from your prep provider's notes
  • Write the next two exam windows and their registration deadlines on your calendar

Registering and scheduling your Level II appointment

Registration and scheduling are two separate steps: paying for the window, then choosing a date and test centre within it, and popular centres fill early. The name on your CFA Institute account must match your passport exactly, and a mismatch can turn a candidate away on the day. Getting both steps done early fixes the date the whole study plan counts back from.

First tasks

  • Compare the registration deadlines for the next two Level II windows
  • Register for the window that leaves enough study weeks
  • Book a test centre and date as soon as scheduling opens
  • Check that your account name matches your passport letter for letter
  • Save the appointment confirmation alongside your study plan

Practical skills module requirement check

CFA Institute has added practical skills modules to the earlier levels of the programme: short online modules, on subjects such as modelling or coding, that sit outside the exam itself. Checking whether one applies to your Level II exam, and when it must be finished, avoids results being held back for an unfinished module.

First tasks

  • Check the CFA Institute website for the practical skills module rules for your exam
  • Compare the available modules and pick one that fits your work
  • Write the completion deadline into the study plan
  • Finish the module and check it shows as complete in your account

Make it yours.

Install CFA Level II, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
