Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Management level syllabus and exam rules check

CIMA updates its syllabus, exam blueprints and candidate rules from time to time, and study texts or forum posts written for an earlier version can be wrong about subject names, codes, question styles and what the case study tests. Reading CIMA's own pages first means every later decision rests on the rules that apply to your sitting, not last year's.

First tasks

  • Download the current Management level syllabus and exam blueprints from CIMA
  • Write down the test format, case study windows and fees as CIMA states them
  • Note what differs from the syllabus your study texts were written for
  • Recheck CIMA's Management level pages for rule or syllabus changes @recurring(quarterly)

Progression and exemption status check

CIMA expects each level to be completed in order, and a degree, another accountancy qualification or an earlier CIMA route can change what you still have to sit. Confirming your record before booking anything avoids paying for a test you are exempt from, or booking one CIMA will not yet let you take.

First tasks

  • Log in to your CIMA account and list every pass and exemption shown
  • Read CIMA's progression rules for the Management level exams
  • Email CIMA about any exemption that is missing from your record
  • Write down what you still have to pass at this level

Tuition route and study materials choice

Candidates pass Management level through classroom courses, live online tuition, recorded courses and pure self-study, and the right choice depends on your budget, your discipline and whether an employer is paying. Comparing two or three routes against the same criteria, and checking that every text matches the current syllabus, stops money going on materials you abandon in week four.

First tasks

  • Shortlist three tuition routes, including one self-study option
  • Score each route on cost, syllabus edition, mocks and tutor access
  • Confirm the texts you buy name the current syllabus on the cover
  • Check for updated editions of your study texts before each new subject @recurring(yearly)

Make it yours.

Install CIMA Management Level, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
