Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

IMA Part 2 rules and content outline check

IMA revises the CMA content specification outline, exam policies and fees from time to time, and prep books written for an earlier outline can be wrong about all three.

First tasks

  • Download IMA's current Part 2 content specification outline
  • Write down the exam format and essay rules exactly as IMA states them
  • Record the current fees in your own currency with the date checked
  • Recheck IMA's CMA exam pages for outline or policy changes @recurring(quarterly)

IMA membership and CMA programme entry

Candidates sit a CMA part only after joining IMA, paying the CMA entrance fee and registering for that part, and the entrance fee usually starts a fixed period in which both parts must be passed. Working out which membership category fits you (student, academic or professional) and when to enter the programme stops that clock starting before you are ready to study.

First tasks

  • Check which IMA membership category you qualify for and its price
  • Confirm how long IMA allows to pass both parts after the entrance fee
  • Join IMA and pay the CMA entrance fee once your study start is fixed
  • Renew your IMA membership before it lapses @recurring(yearly)

Part 2 order and testing window decision

The two CMA parts can be taken in either order, and many candidates choose Part 2 first because it builds on corporate finance they studied recently, while others want the cost and budgeting groundwork of Part 1 behind them. Deciding the order and the testing window together, against your work year-end, university exams and family dates, turns a vague plan into a countdown with honest study weeks in it.

First tasks

  • List IMA's next testing windows and their registration deadlines
  • Mark year-end, audit season, university exams and travel on one calendar
  • Count the realistic study weeks before each window
  • Write down the window and part order you chose and why

Make it yours.

Install CMA Part 2, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
