Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

Current AUD blueprint and exam policies check

The AICPA revises the AUD blueprint, the mix of question types and its testing policies, and review notes written for an earlier year can be wrong about all three. Reading the current blueprint and candidate materials first, and writing down what applies to your sitting with the date you checked, stops you studying to a version of the exam that no longer exists.

First tasks

  • Download the current AUD section of the AICPA Uniform CPA Examination blueprint
  • Write the four AUD content areas and their stated weighting ranges in your notes
  • Note the exam length, testlet order and break policy from the candidate bulletin
  • Recheck the AICPA blueprint and NASBA candidate bulletin for changes @recurring(quarterly)

AUD application and Notice to Schedule

Nobody sits AUD without an approved application from a state board and a Notice to Schedule, and the paperwork often takes longer than candidates expect, particularly when transcripts come from overseas or need evaluating. Starting it in the first month, and knowing exactly when the Notice to Schedule expires, keeps the administration from deciding your exam date for you.

First tasks

  • Read the exam eligibility rules for the jurisdiction you plan to apply through
  • Request official transcripts and any foreign credential evaluation the board needs
  • Submit the AUD application and file the payment receipt
  • Check the Notice to Schedule expiry date against your planned sitting @recurring(monthly:8)

Choosing where AUD falls in your section order

Candidates argue about whether to sit AUD first, after FAR or last, and the right answer depends on your job, your degree and when your busy months fall. Making the call deliberately, with the reasons written down, gives you a section order you can hold to instead of reshuffling every time a colleague passes in a different sequence.

First tasks

  • List your audit experience, recent auditing coursework and your heaviest work months
  • Compare two section orders on topic overlap and busy-season timing
  • Write down the order you chose and why in three sentences

Make it yours.

Install CPA Exam AUD Section, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
