Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

CPWA eligibility and prerequisites check

Before paying anything, confirm that you meet the Investments & Wealth Institute's current prerequisites for the CPWA, which have included a minimum period of relevant experience, a clean regulatory and disciplinary history and agreement to its code of professional responsibility.

First tasks

  • Read the current CPWA prerequisites on the Investments & Wealth Institute website
  • Write the experience, ethics and background check rules on one page
  • Mark each prerequisite as met, nearly met or not yet met
  • Note any disclosure on your regulatory record that the application will ask about
  • Decide whether to enrol this year and record the reason

Choosing between CPWA and other wealth credentials

Several credentials compete for the same advisers: the CPWA, the Institute's own investment management analyst and retirement credentials, chartered wealth manager routes from bodies such as the CISI, and trust and estate diplomas such as STEP's. Each suits a different client base, country and employer, and the wrong one costs a year and a large fee.

First tasks

  • List the private wealth credentials your employer or local market recognises
  • Score up to three credentials on recognition, cost, time and renewal duties
  • Ask two holders of your leading option what it changed in their work
  • Write down the credential you chose and why

Experience and licence record for the application

Applications for senior wealth credentials ask for dated employment history, the licences or registrations you hold and permission for a background check. Gathering that record once, with job titles, dates, regulator registrations and any disclosures in one place, makes the application a half-hour job instead of a week of chasing old employers.

First tasks

  • List every financial services role with dates and the main client work
  • Download your current registration record from your regulator's public register
  • Write a factual note on any disclosure the application may ask about
  • Save offer letters and licence certificates into one application folder

Make it yours.

Install CPWA and Private Wealth Credentials, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
