Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

GARP Part I exam rules and format check

GARP revises the FRM curriculum, exam format and candidate policies every year, and study guides written for an earlier year can be wrong about all three. Before spending money or hours, read the current Part I pages on GARP's website and note what applies to your sitting: the four books, the question format, the exam length, the fees, the calculator list and the ID rules.

First tasks

  • Open GARP's FRM Part I pages and save the current candidate guide
  • Write down the exam format, duration and fees exactly as GARP states them
  • Note what changed in this year's curriculum compared with last year
  • Recheck GARP's exam pages for policy or format changes @recurring(quarterly)

Choosing the Part I exam window

Picking a window first turns a vague intention into a countdown. Count the weeks between today and each of GARP's upcoming testing windows, take out the busy periods at work or university, and choose the window that leaves enough honest study weeks rather than simply the earliest one.

First tasks

  • List GARP's next testing windows and their registration deadlines
  • Mark work year-end, university exams and travel on the same calendar
  • Count the realistic study weeks before each window
  • Write down the window you chose and why

FRM enrolment and Part I exam registration

Enrolment in the FRM programme and registration for a specific Part I window can carry separate fees and deadlines, and missing the early deadline usually costs more. Doing both in one sitting, then booking the test centre seat as soon as scheduling opens, removes the risk of a full centre in the week you wanted.

First tasks

  • Create a GARP account using the exact name on your passport or ID
  • Pay the enrolment and Part I registration fees before the early deadline
  • Book your test centre seat as soon as scheduling opens
  • Save every receipt and confirmation email in one folder

Make it yours.

Install FRM Part I, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
