Where it starts.

Each project arrives with its purpose, milestones and first tasks written out. Here is how the first three read.

FRM Part II exam window and registration

GARP runs Part II in set computer-based testing windows, with registration periods that close earlier than many candidates expect and fees that rise after the early deadline. Choosing your window now, and registering before the cheaper period ends, gives the whole study plan a fixed end date instead of a vague intention.

First tasks

  • Check the current Part II exam windows and fees on GARP's website
  • Pick the window that leaves enough study weeks before it
  • Register for Part II before the early registration period closes
  • Put the test centre booking deadline in your calendar

Part I pass and Part II time limit check

Part II is only graded once Part I has been passed, and GARP sets a limit on how long you can take between passing Part I and passing Part II, which catches people who take a year or two off. Confirming where you stand before paying for anything prevents a wasted sitting or an expired Part I pass.

First tasks

  • Log in to your GARP account and note your Part I pass date
  • Read GARP's current rules on the time limit between Part I and Part II
  • Work out the last window that keeps your Part I pass valid
  • Check how GARP grades Part II when both parts are sat in one window

This year's Part II readings and learning objectives

Each exam year GARP publishes the Part II readings and learning objectives, and the Current Issues readings change completely. Studying from last year's list or a second-hand book means revising material that has been dropped and missing what was added, so the first job is a clean list for your own exam year.

First tasks

  • Download the learning objectives for your exam year from GARP
  • List the readings under each of the six Part II topics
  • Compare the list with any older materials you were given
  • Check GARP's site for errata to your study materials @recurring(monthly:8)

Make it yours.

Install FRM Part II, then tell Aurum the date you're aiming for. It checks whether the plan fits the weeks you actually have.
